Yes! I have officially signed up for another event with Team In Training! I've decided that I'm really going to test myself and do a triathlon. It will be a half-ironman. (I'm not sure if that makes me half-iron or half-man more likely it makes me half-crazy). This is something that I never in my life thought I would be able to do, much less even consider attempting. The team In Training people in my last event were just so wonderful that I had to do this again. The coaches were superb and have given me the confidence to attempt something that only a limited portion of the population has accomplished. The biggest reason to do this is still to raise money to beat cancer. To help those people who are fighting everyday. To give them a better chance of success. Please if you find it in your heart, donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Every penny counts!!! You can donate by clicking on my fundraising link above.

Count down

There's two more days till I leave for Maryland. I'm really excited and admittedly a little nervous. I've been trying all week to get things together to make sure that have everything I need to bring with me on the trip. I got a new carry on bag to avoid the charges for a checked bag and bought some gloves etc to prepare for inclement weather. I contacted the airline to make sure I'll be able to get through security with all my stuff and they seemed to indicate that it shouldn't be a problem. It's been really weird so far this week. I've been driving to work (which I can't stand rush hour traffic) and I've been training on an exercise bike. That thing is killing me! LOL the seat is HUGH and hurts my tuckus. I like to be able to ride in my own living room but I much prefer my bike seat to this thing. I even prefer my OLD seat to this one! LOL I can't wait till we leave. This is going to be my vacation this year.

100 miles to go

I've had some pretty good experiences over that last few weeks on my bicycle. I've managed to rid myself of the problem with the back of my knee but I'm not sure what I did to correct it. My sister bought me some new shoes (which prompted me to buy new pedals) so I think it's the combination of that and changing the height of my seat. Whatever it was it seems to have worked. I was able to ride our final training ride of 83 miles virtually pain free. Well, with one minor exception. It seems that on the final 10 mile loop (most of the group did 72 miles) I managed to get stung in the lip by a bee. I was mad at the time but it's kind of funny. After the last few rides we've gone out to lunch as a team and I enjoy the opportunity to have the chance to get know these great people I've been training with over the last four months.
